The Problem

With Web3 being so new and unfamiliar, the average user suffers from a bad user experience dealing with new blockchain technologies.

So how might we...

... improve the accessibility of Web3 projects?
The Solution

Bring UX designers on board

DeTangle is an online platform that connects blockchain developers with fellow product designers for consulting and collaborating.

Describe

Tell us more about yourself. Are you a designer or a developer? Describe your project and let us know your bright ideas!

Learn

We use machine learning to adapt and suggest collaborators based on your project specifics and industry.

Connect

Reach out and connect with passionate designers and developers who are ready to take the tech space by storm.

How we got there?

Secondary Research

Discover the problem

After diving deeper into the problem space, we realized it was more complicated than we expected. This is because both developers and designers contributed to the problem of lacking of UX in Web3 projects.

  • Web3 in a developer-dominated field, developers are pivoting to blockchain technology in order to advance the world of web3, UX is an afterthought.
  • Good user experience and product designers are highly valued in Web2 but not in Web3(compared to Web2), so not many of them are exploring it (yet).
Rethinking the HMW Statement

Connecting product people with developers to make projects come to life.

Although blockchain technology is just now starting to enter the mainstream, it is still a developer-dominated field. Having engineers design means sacrificing user experience. Jargon and engineers-only features are being massively used in web3 projects stopping it from reaching mass adoption. Therefore, we believe that the issue of blockchain adoption is in the user experience.

By bringing UX and product people on board, we believe that it would increase the focus on user experience and, ultimately, improve the accessibility of web3 space.

To best describe the problem at hand, we revised our HMW statement to how might we…

... better connect blockchain developers with fellow product designers to make great UX in the web3 space?

Reflection

How do you design something that you are not familiar with? As a product designer, being unfamiliar with Web3 was initially my biggest fear. But I soon realized that being unfamiliar with the problem itself as an average user, provided us with the opportunity for design to intervene.

Although blockchain technology is starting to enter the mainstream, it is still a developer-dominated field. Jargon and engineers-only features are being massively used in web3 projects stopping it from reaching mass adoption. Unless the web3 community can get average users to understand what they’re doing and value it, web3 will remain an insider’s game.

Therefore, we believe that the issue of blockchain adoption is in the user experience. Our solution is DeTangle, an online platform that connects web3 developers with dedicated designers who want to design for the future. By bringing product people on board, we believe that it would increase the focus on the user experience, and ultimately improve accessibility of the Web3 space.
